Hello Nicolas, you recently joined the VELEC Systems team, can you briefly tell us about your background?
I come from Wolxheim in Alsace. I made a preparatory class to the big schools in Strasbourg in speciality Maths-Physics-Science of the Engineer. I then entered Polytech Grenoble in Computer Science and Electronics of Embedded Systems.
I did my last year in a double degree at the University of Offenburg in Germany. Once I had my engineering diploma, I decided to continue with a specialized Master’s degree in Management and Mechatronics at Polytech Lille in a work-study program, which is why I joined VELEC Systems.
Why did you contact VELEC for your work-study program?
VELEC is relatively close to my school, which means I don’t have to pay double rent, as some students in my class do. VELEC is also sufficiently developed to have sufficient resources while remaining on a human scale. The products developed by VELEC are also very interesting.
What made you want to join us?
The good atmosphere within the teams as well as the subjects that I will have to deal with.
What are your missions during your internship?
Completely redesign a coin counting machine. The electronic part has to be completely redesigned and this work is mostly mine.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
The variety of tasks. I had to analyze the existing machine, find and approach suppliers, do budget analysis. I will also have to manage a lot of the electronic design and deal with all the problems it brings.
What advice would you give to new recruits?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be curious.
A word about the company culture at VELEC Systems?
Welcoming, stimulating with a good atmosphere.
What is your favorite food?
Rhubarb pie.
