Fabien currently works in the mechanical engineering team
Can you tell us about your background?
Where do you come from, what did you study ?
I come from Brittany (the Bigouden country, the big headdresses and the fest-Noz). I have an engineering degree in Mechanical Design from the school Polytech’ Tours since 2015. I came back to the Lille area, for my 1st job (since 2016), as a mechanical design manager in the design of special machines for all processes of very high pressure waterjet (6000 bar, more pressure than bar).
And since 2021, at VELEC Systems as a mechanical project manager!
How did you meet VELEC?
I was contacted by a talented researcher to help VELEC take on all this new business.
What made you want to join us?
Projects in areas that were new to me (agri-food, currency), whereas I was more in the aeronautics field before.
The workshop visit (agri-machines are shiny!). The centrifuge videos (it’s amazing to count so fast and so well). So I liked the technical challenge!
A young and dynamic team. And for me the opportunity to increase my technical and project management skills (international projects, customer contacts…).

What are your current missions ?
For the moment, I’m making my first machine sub-assemblies for a large currency project for an Asian country. Eventually, take the lead on a complete project!
What do you like best about being a mechanical engineer?
The ability to think about a solution, have it made, assembled and running. I need that BE/workshop connection to make my job meaningful.
What advice would you give to new recruits?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, to watch and be interested in the work of others. Sometimes you learn faster by using the experience of others.
Remember to bring rolls for colleagues (essential).
What is your favorite thing to do?
Aperitifs, with colleagues, with friends.
After that, I don’t think I have any other flaw
